A chat between friends

Simon was in the mess hall after finishing his shift and needed time to relax, however he didn't want to return to his quarters as he knew Isobella would be there and after the chat they had earlier it might get even more heated between them as it all ready had. picking up his soft drink to take a sip he noticed the doors to the mess hall open and his friend Seamus had entered.

Seamus had spent most of the time they were docked to get to know the new members of his department and was happy to see that they seemed to be fitting in quite well with those who'd remained. While he was happy with what he saw, he had ended each day exhausted and usually just went back to his quarters, but tonight, he thought he'd go to the mess hall to unwind. He grabbed a drink and then scanned the room. Seeing Simon sitting alone, he headed to his table. "Mind if I join you, Simon?" He asked.

"Hi Seamus, and yeah you can join me," replied Simon as he picked up his drink, he continued," Did I tell you that Isobella and I had been put in a set of quarters with a double bed?" as he knew that he had only met the woman the night before they had both arrived on the Hephaistos.as he watched his friend sit down, "and then the Mission happened and didn't have time to get Quarters changed," as he knew that he had upset her the last time they has spoke.

Seamus slowly took a drink before replying. "No you haven't told me about you and Isobella. Sounds like it's become ... complicated."

"Yeah it did," replied Simon looking back at Seamus, he continued," She informed the other women aboard the ship that I was off the market," as he picked up the drink and took a sip of the cold liquid. he finished," I told her today that I was getting a change of quarters and she didn't like that one bit,"

“Ah, ok. I take it she wants the continued commitment that sharing quarters offers, but you’re having some doubts?” Seamus asked as he finished his drink and signalled for another round.

"Well, I might change my mind if she let's me have some female friends," replied Simon looking back at him, he continued," and if she wants a commitment from me then what about Trust?" as he asked the question. he knew that Isobella was going to be hard to please, He finished," I'm not going to stop her from having male friends,"

Seamus nodded his thanks to the server and took a drink. “Trust is very important in a relationship. I don’t know Isobella personally, but is it possible it’s more that she’s insecure with herself over her not trusting you?”

" I don't know," replied Simon looking back at Seamus, "she wouldn't talk to me even if I asked her to," as he picked up his drink that he hadn't finished, He concluded," Not after the way we last spoke to one another," he knew that she was going to be stubborn and maybe he had been stubborn as well.

Seamus looked at the ceiling for a few seconds to try to think of the best phrasing. Looking back at Simon. “You won’t know unless you try, Simon. A relationship won’t work without open communication. Being stubborn won’t get either of you anywhere. Take the first step and approach her. Talk with her, express your concerns, being completely open and honest. Don’t let your temper get the better of you, keep calm and hear her out as well. If after this conversation, you two decide to part ways, at least you’ll know where each other stands and you can say you tried.”

"So your saying that I have to crawl back to her and beg forgiveness," replied Simon who didn't like that idea one bit, what he wanted was freedom to talk to who ever he wanted and it had been a mistake on the part of the Quartermaster putting them together, but still they had shared a bed together, he thought oO Maybe I could give it a try, Oo as he looked back at his friend.

Seamus shook his head and took a long drink from his glass. "No I'm not saying to crawl back and beg forgiveness. I'm saying talk to her, if things get straightened out, great, if not, you can at least say you tried and walk away knowing the air is clear."

"I know what your saying Seamus, but I doubt she will want to talk," replied Simon as he emptied his own glass, he continued," But I will try and talk to her and sort this out," as he knew that by being together on this ship they would have to talk to one another at some point.

Giving Simon a quick nod, Seamus drained his drink. "Sounds like a plan, Simon. Well, I should head back to my quarters, my assistants have scheduled some intense training starting at 08:00 tomorrow and I want to be there to take part and see how my department is doing."

"Thanks for the talk Seamus and please do me a favour " looking back at the Security officer he stated giving his friend a nod of his head, He finished," Just don't break anything as I have just fixed it all," as he smiled back at his friend.

Seamus laughed. "I'd like to say we won't break anything, but I can't lie."
